I added another image to my "Photo Album" series. This image is called, "Valerie, Jameson and the Chandelier." I loved working on this project and I may continue to add to it. Right now though, I have an idea for a new series that I am really excited about. I also, just purchased a used medium format camera that I cannot wait to use. I only ran a test run through it to make sure that it was working. I am leaving for a trip to Michigan a week from tomorrow! Hopefully I can work on my new series while I'm there, and also when I go to New Hampshire in July. My new camera is huge!! I'm sure it will be lovely having to get through the airport with it!

I am done shooting for my final project! I just have to go to the darkroom tomorrow and print the last two images that I am using. I LOVE the way that this photo turned out. I am just really happy overall with my entire series. I am dreading making the book, however. We have to make a book to present the photos on the last critique day. I have the book boards, but my book is going to be difficult to construct because my photos are so large. They are 11x14, so I have to make a book that is 15x15 because I don't want people to have to turn the book to look at the horizontal photos. I will post pictures of the book once I make it. My French Revolution final exam is tomorrow... help!

Oh My.... I Want

Okay, I found this camera in b&h photo video's catalog or bhphotovideo.com. It's called the Rolleiflex mini digi. It's a mini digital camera that fits into the palm of your hand, but it is modeled after the old twin lens reflex medium format camera. I just about died when I saw this. You actually look through the top of it like those old fashioned waist view finders.... and the best part; you actually have to crank the little "film advance" winder on the side before you take a picture. Oh wait... no this is the best part; it takes square format digital pictures, just like the square 120 film that it would have taken! I'm in love with it, and if anyone happens to find an extra $200 laying around... please think of me.

Photo Job from Yesterday...

I had a photo job yesterday; taking portraits of this beautiful little girl on her first communion day. She looked like a little angel. I don't have too much too say today, I just got home from work, and now I'm tired.

PS- This is the first digital photo that I have uploaded to this blog. I'm in love with film.

Thirteen Down and Two to Go

This is just another print from my final portfolio series for school. I've been so busy working on it, and I am so happy with the way that it turned out. I think it's my first real body of work and I know I will continue to add to it after the semester is over. I can't wait for summer, I feel like I will get to add some other really strong images have more time on my hands. Although, having a deadline really helps you accomplish things. I'm so relieved that I only have two prints left to add to the project. Now is that time when the darkroom becomes really hazardous with having so many people in there. I can't think of a title for this print. I'm completely stumped. I'm so tired... and it's back on the six thirty train downtown tomorrow morning.

Oh, by the way, I found the most beautiful red leather portfolio at the Blick art store yesterday. I had seen it a long time ago, but it was on sale for only thirty-eight dollars! That really made my week. It's so beautiful and I feel wonderful carrying it around the city.
Have a good night.

This is a print that I made for my final series that I explained in my last post. It is called Camille in the Bathroom. It was inspired by Tina Barney's photograph called, Jill and Polly in the Bathroom. I was fortunate to have another gorgeous friend model for me for this shoot, then I spent all day on Friday printing these in the darkroom. I am so pleased with the series thus far. I had another shoot today after I got home from work. I hope that they will turn out just as well. There were a few other shots from last Thursdays shoot that I would also like to share, but I am worn out now. I signed up for classes next semester. I'm taking studio, advanced color darkroom, digital photography I, and the history of photography I and II. They should be challenging and fun, but for right now... summer is smelling awfully good...

Chaos in the Darkroom

My Arizona vacation is over. I'm back home, and school is back in session... full force I might add. Finals are upon us, and suddenly the darkroom is packed with photo students who realize that there are only five weeks left to prepare their portfolios. For my final series concept, I am using Tina Barney's work as my inspiration. Her color repetition, interesting backgrounds, and her tense family-like portraits are what I will be trying to capture. If you aren't familiar with her, look up her work. I fell in love with her pink bathroom portrait that I saw as an enormous print at the Art Institute Museum in Chicago. I have a lot of ideas for my project... I just need to start working. I also need to stock up on darkroom photo paper... somehow; despite the fact that Kodak has recently discontinued its paper. It appears as though it will soon be the end of color darkroom. This is just a casual portrait I took of my boyfriend on our last day in Phoenix. I miss the flower scent there. Walking down the street here, I seem to get nothing more than an inhalation of air pollution. Though, I do love the city.
